Committee Members

Executive Committee Members
- Roles:
Chair
The Chair provides overall direction and coordination of chapter activities. Key responsibilities include presiding over meetings, guiding officers, delegating tasks, and ensuring timely submission of the annual report. The Chair also appoints committee members, offering support and direction as needed.

Chair-Elect
The duties of the Chair-Elect shall be to assist the Chair with the direction and management of the Chapter. In the absence of the Chair, the duties of the office shall devolve upon the Chair-Elect.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for maintaining chapter records, such as membership lists, meeting minutes, and other essential documents. Additional duties include notifying the ACS national office of new officers, managing chapter correspondence, and supporting effective communication to ensure continuity.
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the chapter’s finances, including managing funds, maintaining accurate financial records, and preparing financial reports. This role is critical for ensuring fiscal accountability and compliance with ACS financial procedures.


- Election Procedures:
1. Expressions of Interest (EOI) are open to all ACS (Australia) members.
2. Eligibility Check will be conducted by the Nomination Committee* and ACS. The nominees list will be reviewed and selected by the Nomination Committee* based on the information provided in EOI.
3. All eligible ACS (Australia) members will be asked to vote for the candidates.
4. Final results announcement.
* Nominees should NOT be in the Nomination Committee.

- Eligibility:
1. You must be a registered member of ACS.
2. Community Associates are chapter members, but are not eligible to participate in elections as voters or candidates.


Please be aware that being an executive committee members requires time commitment, and manage a large amount of membership information. Our members' private information is classified as confidential.

General Committee Members
- Roles:
Industry Division 
Industry Division Offers are mainly responsible for the relationships between ACS (Australia) and our industry partners and providing insights from industrial perspective. Industry Division Offers usually are the representatives from different companies.
Outreach Officers
The outreach program is managed by the ACS (Australia) Outreach Officers.  The officers also work to build relationships with external organizations and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Communication Committee
The Communication Committee is mainly responsible for producing and managing content for various communication channels, including newsletters, social media, websites, and press release and promoting events and initiatives to ensure maximum visibility and participation.
Early Career Committee (ECC)
The ECC advocates for the needs, concerns, and contributions of early-career chemists and students. Also, the YCC fosters and connects communities of younger chemists and students around the world. They organize events, webinars, and meetings to help early-career chemists build networks and share knowledge 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee
The DEI Committee is responsible for fostering an inclusive and equitable environment within the organization. DEI committee develops and implements DEI policies, organizes training and educational programs, and regularly assesses the effectiveness of DEI initiatives. The committee also builds partnerships with external communities to promote DEI values. 
Events Committee
The Events Committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events that align with the organization's goals and objectives. This includes managing logistics such as venue selection, budgeting, and scheduling, as well as coordinating with vendors and stakeholders. The committee also promotes events to ensure maximum participation and visibility, and evaluates the success of events to make improvements for future initiatives.

- Election Procedures:
1. EOI are open to all members (this EOI is different from executive committee members EOI).
2. The nominees list will be reviewed and selected by the Executive Committee.

- Eligibility:
1. You must be a registered member of ACS.
2. Relevant working experience is preferred.

ACS (Australia) provides a diverse community. If you are from different organizations, you are welcome to come on board.
